Bowed … Nadal; 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open

Melbourne: Spain’s tennis legend Rafael Nadal has clinched the Australian Open title. In the final, Nadal defeated world number two Danil Medvedev of Russia to clinch the title.

Nadal, the sixth seed, set an unprecedented historic achievement with this title. Nadal became the first man to win 21 Grand Slam titles in tennis. Nadal, 35, has surpassed Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the World Cup.

After losing the first two sets, Nadal won the match by winning three sets later. Score; 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5

Although Medvedev looked set to win easily, Nadal fought back with his experience. Medvedev was unable to hold his own in front of Nadal’s lethal form in sets three, four and five.

This is Nadal’s second Australian Open title. He had previously won the title in 2009. Nadal defeated Roger Federer to win the title.
